Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
This passage invites full-hearted trust beyond what we can understand.
Scriptures on trusting God teach you to lean on God's wisdom, commit your way to Him, wait with hope, and receive peace while the outcome is still unclear.
Proverbs 3:5-6 is the anchor passage. Psalm 37:5 adds the language of committing your way, and Isaiah 26:3 connects trust with peace.
Trusting God does not mean pretending uncertainty is easy. It means bringing the uncertainty to God and doing the next faithful thing with Him.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
This passage invites full-hearted trust beyond what we can understand.
“Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
Trust involves committing your way to God, not merely waiting anxiously.
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
Peace and trust are closely connected in this promise.
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Faith gives spiritual weight to hope when we cannot yet see the outcome.
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing.”
God is described here as the God of hope, not only the giver of hope.
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you.”
Jesus gives peace that is different from what the world gives.
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
God's peace guards both the heart and the mind.
“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”
Peace reaches even the vulnerable moment of sleep.
“The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: the Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee.”
This blessing ends with the Lord giving peace.
“But I trust in you, Lord; I say, 'You are my God.'”
“But I will call upon God, and the LORD will save me.”
“My strength and my courage is the LORD, and he has been my savior.”
“Whoever does accept his testimony certifies that God is trustworthy.”
“Those who fear the Lord trust in the Lord, who is their help and shield.”
“Fill us at daybreak with your mercy, that all our days we may sing for joy.”
“Those who know your name trust in you; you never forsake those who seek you, LORD.”
“Endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us.”
“I command you: be strong and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord, your God, is with you wherever you go.”
“For nothing will be impossible for God.”
“You are my refuge and shield; in your word I hope.”
“In him our hearts rejoice; we trust in his holy name.”
“My help comes from the LORD, the maker of heaven and earth.”
“A clean heart create for me, God; renew within me a steadfast spirit.”
“My heart is steadfast, God; my heart is steadfast. I will sing and chant praise.”
“I keep the Lord always before me; with him at my right hand, I shall never be shaken.”
“For the LORD, your God, is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you, nor forget the covenant with your ancestors that he swore to them.”
“Be strong and steadfast; have no fear or dread of them, for it is the Lord, your God, who marches with you; he will never fail you or forsake you.”
“Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom all things are and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and through whom we exist.”
“He said: Pay attention, all Judah, inhabitants of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: Do not fear or lose heart at the sight of this vast multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's.”
“He said to her, 'Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.'”
Proverbs 3:5-6 is one of the best-known scriptures on trusting God because it teaches wholehearted trust rather than leaning only on your own understanding.
Psalm 37:5 is a clear Psalm passage about trusting God: commit your way to the Lord, trust Him, and He will act.
